If the digital image is used for the purpose of data generation (eg. morphometry, image analysis), then the image used should be considered to be raw data. In these specific studies, the raw data is the image and the derived measurements which are crucial to the reconstruction of the study data. Therefore, digital images must be archived for these specific studies.
